NPR, formerly National Public Radio, is a media organization with public and private financing that works as a national syndication for a network of 900 public radio stations in the United States.
The NPR was created in 1970 after the approval of the Public Broadcasting Act (Public Broadcasting Act) of 1967, which established the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which also created the Public Broadcasting Service in the field of television.
Like its competitors American Public Media and Public Radio International, NPR produces and distributes information and cultural programming. Not required from member stations transmit all programs and is usual that public radio stations transmit programs of the three suppliers.
